This piece was commissioned by a lady who spent some time in Manly. She found peace at Shelly Beach and found the landscape very restorative.
Colours she likes are teal and red. So I drew inspiration from that guidance.
We wanted to use free brushstrokes with some abstraction, but still have the painting recognisably Shelly.
We went with a stained teak box frame for a contemporary feel. the frame was a similar colour to a mid-brown used in the artwork, which gives a natural and cohesive look.
In this video, I style the painting using some textured brown and grey cushions.
